Katie L. Dearing was born and raised in the Jacksonville area. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Florida where she was active in numerous student organizations. Ms. Dearing continued her education at the University of Florida College of Law where she graduated, with honors, in 1999. During law school, Ms. Dearing earned her Pro Bono Certificate for work with the Teen Court program and served as a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy.
After graduation, Ms. Dearing returned to Jacksonville to serve as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida where she gained extensive trial experience in the prosecution of crimes ranging from theft to first-degree murder. As a prosecutor, Ms. Dearing tried in excess of 30 jury trials, including complex cases involving the use of forensic evidence. With Liles, Gavin, Costantino & George, her practice now emphasizes litigation of civil cases on behalf of national and local businesses and individuals in matters including product liability, professional liability, personal injury and wrongful death claims, contract disputes and general commercial matters.
Ms. Dearing was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1999 and is licensed to practice before all state courts of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle, Northern and Southern Districts of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Ms. Dearing is an active member of the Jacksonville Bar Association where she serves as the President of the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyer's Section. Ms. Dearing also recently served as Vice Chair of the City of Jacksonville Commission on Ethics. Ms. Dearing and her husband, Dan, have one child.
