R. Kyle Gavin was born in Lakeland, Florida on November 22, 1959. He graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University in 1980 with a major in Risk Management and Insurance. After working for an insurance brokerage firm in Tampa and Jacksonville, Mr. Gavin attended law school at the University of Florida, where he served as Associate Editor of The University of Florida Law Review, and graduated with honors in 1987. Mr. Gavin and his wife, Kristy, have three children.
Mr. Gavin has been with the Firm since its inception in 1991, having previously practiced in Jacksonville since 1988. He is admitted to all state and federal courts in Florida, including the federal Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been published in The Florida Law Review and is a contributing author to Business Litigation in Florida. Mr. Gavin earned Martindale-Hubbell's highest possible attorney rating of "AV". His practice includes the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation, arbitration, and appellate matters, with primary emphasis on commercial litigation, product and personal injury liability, warranty law, medical device litigation, professional liability, insurance coverage disputes, intellectual property, and securities litigation.
Mr. Gavin is a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Florida Bar. He has participated on numerous bar association committees, including The Florida Bar's Code and Rules of Evidence Committee and the Fee Arbitration Committee. He is a member of the Business Law Section and the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar and the American Inns of Court. Mr. Gavin also devotes time to handling pro bono cases for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid and is active in his local church and community.
